Digital Protection is one name for a rogue anti-virus application that has proliferated under many different names and disguises. Digital Protection, in particular, began causing infections in April 2010, but it is the same malware as other rogue anti-virus programs Your Protection, My Protection, User Protection, Data Protection, Defense Center, and Dr. Guard. Digital Protection is a scam and does not provide any actual protection against threats to your computer.
Common Issues
Digital Protection does some pretty standard things for a rogue anti-virus, and it also does some things that are relatively uncommon. Like essentially all rogue anti-virus applications, Digital Protection will run bogus system scans and inform you that your PC is infected with nonexistent viruses. (For example, one of the common bogus viruses that it claims to find is called "PORN.perversion.RIO.") Digital Protection also generates frequent pop-up warning screens, some of which are made to appear as if they came from Windows Security Center. Digital Protection can prevent other programs from running, giving fake error messages about infections in the programs or program files. Most of Digital Protection's error messages claim that your system is under immediate attack from someone trying to hack into your personal information. What Makes Digital Protection Different
What makes Digital Protection different is that it actively works to disable all major anti-virus and anti-spyware applications that are present on a computer, and it may even attempt to remove or damage them. Digital Protection is also known to redirect your browser when you try to access the Internet, and it specifically blocks access to websites that offer any kind of malware removal or malware removal support. The other sneaky difference about Digital Protection is that its prompts claim that you have to buy the "full" version of the software, in order to delete the bogus viruses and threats it claims to find, and are accompanied by a button offering "Easy One-Click Registration." The addition of this button is both an attempt to make the pop-ups seem legitimate, and to get you to purchase the fake software more quickly.Make no mistake, Digital Protection is a fraud, no matter how real it looks or how scary its warnings are, and you do not have to give in and buy its bogus application in order to make it leave you alone.

Method of Infection
There are many ways your computer could get infected with Digital Protection. Digital Protection can come bundled with shareware or other downloadable software.
Another method of distributing Digital Protection involves tricking you by displaying deceptive pop-up ads that may appear as regular Windows notifications with links which look like buttons reading Yes and No. No matter which "button" that you click on, a download starts, installing Digital Protection on your system. Digital Protection installs on your computer through a trojan and may infect your system without your knowledge or consent.

Symptoms

Therefore, it is strongly recommended to remove all traces of Digital Protection from your computer.
Remedies and Prevention
Digital Protection, as well as other Spyware, are constantly evolving and becoming more advanced to avoid detection. Digital Protection along with its variants can install in different locations and even when you try to uninstall it you find they reappear when you reboot your computer.
Install a good anti-spyware software
When there's a large number of traces of Spyware, for example Digital Protection, that have infected a computer, the only remedy may be to automatically run a Spyware scan from a good anti-spyware software designed to detect Digital Protection and other types of spyware.
