Smart HDD is a rogue defragmenter that claims to be a valid PC optimization tool. This fake defragmenter, first launched in 2010, now sports a new interface design and includes two new features, the S.M.A.R.T. Check and S.M.A.R.T. Repair. It is an application that aims to report false hardware failures within the user's PC, such as hard drive problems and memory errors. Smart HDD has several predecessors, which include Smart Defragmenter and HDD Rescue. Once this fake optimizer enters the system, through the help of Trojans or the exploitation of certain weak spots in the system, Smart HDD proceeds to alert the user of PC hard disk malfunctions and other hardware problems. Nonetheless, this corrupt application serves no other purpose than to persuade you to procure a full version of the application, without the guarantee of a truly functional PC optimization solution.
Same Tactics, New Design of Smart HDD
As already mentioned above, there are old and new versions of Smart HDD. This fake optimization program has recently been updated to include several tools, which include S.M.A.R.T. Repair and S.M.A.R.T. Check. This is not surprising, considering that Smart HDD has always experimented with several editions in the past. The old interface aims to display system status, diagnostics and also offers defragmentation runs. The updated version, however, includes both the S.M.A.R.T. Check and Repair options, and also includes an advanced scan selection.
These modifications, nonetheless, do not make the Smart HDD software any more legitimate than the rest of the rogue defragmenters infiltrating millions of personal computers in the world today. It remains to be a non-performing and fraudulent system that has neither the ability nor the capacity to determine whether the PC, in fact, has hardware or memory problems. For all its professed guarantees, the Smart HDD program has to be removed and uninstalled from your PC; and the sooner the better.
How Smart HDD Behaves
Once Smart HDD enters your PC, Smart HDD will modify your system and generate deceptive warning messages about the state of the hard drive of your computer. It will either prompt a hard disk error detection, a hard drive problem or notify about missing programs within the PC. Clicking any of these messages will result in an automatic scan, after which a list of so-called system problems will be enumerated. At this point, the fake PC optimizer will proceed to assure you that you can rectify these problems by purchasing a full version of the application. Smart HDD will do this even if Smart HDD is actually an illicit program camouflaging as a PC optimization solution.
Smart HDD needs to be removed from your PC and removed for good. It is possible for this rogue PC optimizer to install additional spyware into your computer. If left unchecked and uninstalled, Smart HDD may even update itself and worsen the corruption. It is a serious threat to your privacy and security and places important computer programs at risk. Finally, buying a full version of this program only serves to rob you of your hard-earned money. Smart HDD is a rogue defragmenter program and a rogue PC optimization tool that has to be deleted through the use of legitimate anti-malware software, before the contagion becomes even worse.
