System Security is a rogue anti-virus program that has been around since December 2008, and which has gone by various different names, including System Security 2008, System Security 2009, and System Security 4.52. System Security is closely related to rogue anti-virus program Winweb Security. What all of these rogue anti-virus and anti-spyware applications have in common is that they are all scams. System Security is a threat to your computer, not the solution to a threat.

In most ways, System Security behaves in ways that are typical to rogue ant-virus programs. Infections typically occur by way of Trojan Horse, and the Trojan is hidden in some ordinary, harmless-looking thing you come across online. System Security infections are often the result of a Trojan hidden in a video codec, free download, or even a click-through pop-up screen on a website. That means that if your computer is infected with System Security, it is a surprise to you. This is all part of the scam's attempt to get you to think that System Security has some legitimate connection with Windows.

System Security can alter your system's registry so that it runs as soon as Windows starts. It will pop up with a phony "scan results" or user page, pretend to scan your computer, and tell you that it has found some very dangerous threats. Then System Security prompts you to buy the licensed version of its software in order to remove all of the "virus threats." Proceed with caution before taking any action on these, because System Security will usually flag a whole bunch of important Windows components as viruses. Those aren't threats, and you sure don't want to remove them! Also, don't forget that the goal of System Security is to scare you out of your money, not to do virus scans. System Security is incapable of scanning for any threats and certainly can't do anything to remove them.

The "scan results" page is carefully designed to be misleading by using several Windows graphics associated with actual Windows security components. Furthermore, many of the bogus pop-ups that System Security generates will mimic the appearance of a Windows alert or error message. It is important to remember, however, that no Windows component would ever behave the way System Security does. System Security will prevent you from running any other program, can't be killed using Task Manager, can redirect Internet Explorer to its own malicious sites, and will generate a constantly increasing number of pop-up ads and scary-sounding alerts. If you click on any of these alert messages, you will be directed to a website where you can "buy" the complete or up-to-date version of System Security. Unfortunately, if you do go through with it, you will not get anything in return.

Infections of System Security have persisted since its initial detection, and with time, a disturbing new threat has come out of System Security. In particular, this threat takes advantage of people who have posted in online message boards or support sites asking for help with removing System Security. There are documented cases of these people receiving emails or messages from a stranger who claims to have read the post, asking for help, and asking if the original poster has found a way to get rid of System Security. Almost immediately after, this first email is followed by a second, which says something like, "Never mind, I found this thing that can remove it. Attached is the file (or link). I highly recommend it." The attached file or link will be for something called "wscleaner.exe," which is supposedly some kind of program that can remove System Security. The reality is quite the opposite, and the file is actually an additional piece of malware. If your system is infected with System Security, and you receive an email recommending a program called wscleaner, do not save, install, or open the file.

Any way you look at it, System Security is a scam, and it has nothing to offer. As hopeless as it might seem, System Security will not be there forever, and you will use the computer again – without paying the creators of the scam.

You also run the risk of damaging your computer since you're required to find and delete sensitive files in your system such as DLL files and registry keys. It is recommended you use a good spyware remover to remove System Security and other spyware, adware, trojans and viruses on your computer.

Run a System Security scan/check to successfully detect all System Security files with the SpyHunter Spyware Detection Tool. If you wish to remove System Security, you can either purchase the SpyHunter spyware removal tool to remove System Security or follow the System Security manual removal method provided in the "Remedies and Prevention" section.

Method of Infection

There are many ways your computer could get infected with System Security. System Security can come bundled with shareware or other downloadable software.

Another method of distributing System Security involves tricking you by displaying deceptive pop-up ads that may appear as regular Windows notifications with links which look like buttons reading Yes and No. No matter which "button" that you click on, a download starts, installing System Security on your system. System Security installs on your computer through a trojan and may infect your system without your knowledge or consent.

If you think you may already be infected with System Security, use this SpyHunter Spyware dectection tool to detect System Security and other common Spyware infections. Symptoms

Therefore, it is strongly recommended to remove all traces of System Security from your computer.

Remedies and Prevention

System Security, as well as other Spyware, are constantly evolving and becoming more advanced to avoid detection. System Security along with its variants can install in different locations and even when you try to uninstall it you find they reappear when you reboot your computer.

Install a good anti-spyware software

When there's a large number of traces of Spyware, for example System Security, that have infected a computer, the only remedy may be to automatically run a Spyware scan from a good anti-spyware software designed to detect System Security and other types of spyware.
